Materials

That

Matter

At Weplight, we believe that the materials we choose are the foundation of our designs.

Every lamp we create is a testament to the beauty and durability of natural materials, carefully selected for both their aesthetic and functional qualities.

From the warmth of wood to the innovation of acoustic felt, our materials are chosen with sustainability, craftsmanship, and performance in mind.

The wood used in our lamps is sustainably sourced and certified by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), ensuring that it comes from well-managed forests. We also use reclaimed wood to reduce waste and support responsible sourcing practices.

We use biodegradable plastics for our packaging, and all the cardboard used in our boxes is made from recycled kraft paper. In cases where compostable plastics are not available, we use recycled plastic instead. This reduces waste and minimizes our environmental footprint.

Our acoustic felt is made from a blend of wool and viscose, offering excellent sound-absorbing properties. This material is certified under OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and ISO 9001, guaranteeing that it is free from harmful substances and meets strict quality standards. Additionally, the use of 80% wool makes it biodegradable, further enhancing its environmental sustainability

Each of our lamps is painted by hand, with great attention to detail, using inks that we produce ourselves. This unique process ensures that each lamp is a one-of-a-kind piece, with its own story and personality.

Our color finishes are made using water-based and UV-resistant pigments. This treatment protects the wood while preserving its natural texture, enhancing its beauty and ensuring durability, breathability, and resistance to sunlight, humidity, and mold. The product is environmentally certified and contributes to international standards such as LEED and BREEAM.

A Timeless Color Palette Inspired by Le Corbusier

At Weplight, we value design that goes beyond trends and creates lasting impact. That’s why we turned to Le Corbusier’s masterful use of color as inspiration for one of our finishing palettes. His Polychromie Architecturale, a carefully curated selection of hues, was developed with the belief that color is an essential element in shaping space, influencing perception, and evoking emotion.

The palette we have chosen includes ochre, terracotta, rose, pale green, light petrol, and violet, reflecting his approach to harmonious yet expressive color compositions. These tones seamlessly integrate with natural materials like wood, adding depth, warmth, and sophistication to our designs.

Efficient Resource Use

We are committed to zero waste. This philosophy extends to our manufacturing process, where we design lamps to minimize waste, taking advantage of every piece of material.

Closing the Loop

At Weplight, we ensure that any discarded plastic is repurposed, either for packaging or for recycling. We also focus on reducing waste in every step of production, from the careful cutting of wood to the strategic use of materials, ensuring we leave as small an environmental footprint as possible.

Sustainable
Packaging Practices

In our commitment to sustainability, Weplight implements several innovative packaging solutions. Our custom-made boxes are designed to optimize material usage, reducing waste and ensuring safe transport. These boxes are carefully crafted to fit the specific dimensions of each lamp, minimizing excess packaging material. To reduce our environmental footprint further, we offer RTA (ready to assemble) lamps, which can be better for transport, reducing packaging volume and energy consumption.
